Oslo, 2 Things TO Try and 2 Things to *NOT * Try

“$12 please” the bartender said as Matt grabbed his beer and went to sit at our table in a small pizzeria in the city center.

$12. We ordered two pizzas and that bill was $75.

First thing to NOT do in Oslo is eat out. That was the first and only time we dined out during out two week stay there.

The second thing you mustn’t do. Try their beloved salted black licorice. I am a bit of a gummy candy connoisseur but this just wasn’t cutting it. We all gave it a try and promptly spit it out……

So, what do you do? Ahhhhhh.

Hop on a boat and visit the quaint island of Lindoya Vest. Meander around, admire the brightly colored square homes tucked away with rose trellis and beautiful trees. Make your way over to the wooden dock and dare each other to jump in! The water comes from the Oslo Fjord. There is a diving platform, diving board and a secluded platform in the water.

Take a boat tour throughout the city. We got off on Bygdoy and visited both the Viking Museum and Folk Museum. Seeing the viking ships and studying Eric the Red and Leif Eriksen was inspiring for the boys. I could hardly wrap my head around the voyages that were taken in the primitive for today boats but at the same time couldn’t fathom how they built those so many years ago. Afterwards, pop over to the National Gallery to see The Scream by Edvard Munch.

 Ha Det Norway.
